With Multi-Tier applications ScaleUp makes it possible for users to deploy their project (website, portal, shop) on a scalable server infrastructure. Each component, such as the webserver or database server, is running as its own virtual machine. This way a virtual server infrastructure on ScaleUp can be scaled beyond the capacity of a single hardware server.
We will be offering Ruby on Rails users a similar kind of application. But since most Ruby on Rails users also have other specific needs (i.e. the ability to install new gems) we want to invite all Ruby on Rails users to team with us in order to build a perfect environment.
Another feature we want to implement in our Ruby on Rails hosting offer is AutoScale. With AutoScale, additional webserver instances (i.e. mongrels, …) can be added when certain performance limits (such as total CPU usage) are reached on the existing webservers. Each Ruby on Rails Hosting infrastructure will have its own dedicated ressources (CPU, RAM, Storage). Users can scale their virtual infrastructure from less than a single CPU core to multiple CPU cores on demand.
We invite you to join our beta program! With your help we can build a perfect Ruby on Rails hosting environment for you and your business.
Here are the details of what to expect
1.) Apply for the beta program.
Give us a brief explanation of what youre interested in testing or describe your project which might be suitable for running on ScaleUp. Go to http://www.scaleupcloud.com
2.) Login to The DMC.
Once a day our team selects a number of users that are provided access to The DMC. Check your inbox for an e-mail containing your login details.
3.) Select and launch your desired server configuration.
During the beta everything on ScaleUp is free! So take the chance to experience the product and engage in its further development.
4.) Start experimenting with ScaleUp.
You can ideally use your ScaleUp server as a development environment or for installing and testing any of your applications. We suggest not to use ScaleUp for productive applications until the beta is completed, though we do not restrict if you do.
5.) Give us feedback!
Use the feedback tab, which is easily accessible through The DMC, and start sharing your thoughts with the beta community. Let us know, what specific needs you have. For example, what kind of loadbalancing do you need? Which database do you prefer? Do you have a preference for the underlying Linux distribution, etc. Once you’ve joined the beta, please dive into our Uservoice feedback system and tell us what’s on your mind.
